North Bellingham is a rural area just north of the city limits of Bellingham, Washington. Portions of the North Bellingham area along I-5 are actually now within the city limits of Ferndale, WA. The area thats known as North Bellingham has a southern boundary of around Slater Rd, I-5 on the west, Axton Rd to the north and approximatley Guide Meridian on the eastern edge.
The History of the North Bellingham area was mostly in farming over the last 125 years, and still this day their are large sections dedicated to small farms. Their are still a few daires in operation, lots of acerage in the production of raspberries and then smaller vegetable and fruit farms mixed through out the area.
Most of the housing is in and around the Northwest Rd and Smith Rd areas. The area has small communities that have been built over the last 15-20 years to include Bellaire Estates, Myers Drive, West 54th, Byers Lane, Deer Creek, Pioneer Meadows, and Liberty Park which is being built currently.
Area school age kids attend North Bellingham Elementary, Vista Middle School, and Ferndale High School. The area is also served by Whatcom Day Academy. I believe this area offers a rich envionment for kids to grow up and an opportunity to attend some great schools in the process.
